To allow students to visualise and measure parameters associated with basic aerodynamic concepts as an extension to theoretical study via observation of models surrounded by a laminar airflow.

The wind tunnel rig is based on an Airtech X-stream wind tunnel manufactured by Pitsco Education. The unit consists of a fan, test chamber, flow straightener (6:1 compression ratio intake bell) and a manometer to measure actual air-speed. The unit allows for continuous adjustment of air speed through the chamber over a range of 0 ~ 65 kph and direct measurement of the cumulative forces exerted on the models as air moves across the model. The rig operates in batch such that students can upload test parameters and collect data once the test has run.
