This remotely conducted laboratory experiment demonstrates how general textbook theory can be employed to determine the magnitude of a physical constant commonly used in engineering applications.

Students will use basic mechanics (Newton's laws of motion) to find the magnitude of the gravitational constant g, its experimental accuracy, precision, and uncertainty. The apparatus used to derive this constant consists of an updated remotely controlled version of the classic inclined plane.
